Original WW2 Royal Engineers ‘Keep Clear Unexploded Bomb’ Sign

£2,350.00

The original “Keep Clear Unexploded Bomb” signs used during World War II were often locally made, sometimes even just chalked on wood, but the official red and white enamel signs appeared around 1941. These official signs, issued to Royal Engineers bomb disposal units, featured bold lettering and were designed to be highly visible and easily understood. They were crucial for alerting people to the dangers of unexploded bombs and preventing accidents during and after air raids. While the official sign was red and white, some local authorities may have used different designs, sometimes including the word ‘Danger’. These signs are rare as many were melted down after the war.

The sign has expected age related wear including chipping, rust and the top left edge has some dents. A great collectors item and would display well.
